The Housing Task Force has representation from all four Independent Living Centers; Summit Independent Living Center, North Central Independent Living Services (NCILS), Living Independently for Today and Tomorrow (LIFTT), and Montana Independent Living Project (MILP).
The task force is located around the state and come together as a unified voice to address local, state, and national housing concerns.
One of our primary grassroots movements is to promoted the idea of visitability:
Visitable Design Features: 1) No-step entrance on an accessible route (36 inches) 2) Wider hallways throughout (Min 32 inches) 3) A bathroom on the main floor which a wheelchair can get into and shut the door
MILP is a not-for-profit agency governed by a consumer-controlled Board of Directors whose lives have been personally impacted by a disability. It is funded in part by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended in 1992 (Title VII- Independent Living Services), and the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (Disability Services Division).
